Corrections

When a fact on this site turns out to be wrong or out of date, we correct it and record the change here, with the date and the reason.

To report a wrong fact, use “Something wrong?” at the foot of the hospital’s or clinic’s page, or the form below.

Please do not include your name, contact details or anything about your health. We cannot reply to reports.

Earlier corrections, made while we built the site (18)
  1. Loh Guan Lye Specialists Centre: its owner is now shown as not yet confirmed.

Why: We had named Loh Guan Lye & Sons Sdn Bhd from the copyright line on its website, which does not say who owns the hospital.

  2. Penang Adventist Hospital: Adventist Hospital & Clinic Services (M) is now shown as the company that runs the hospital, not as its owner.

Why: Its own pages say the hospital is “operated by” that company and do not name an owner. Our earlier correction the same day still called it the owner.

  3. Government hospitals’ owner, the Ministry of Health, now cites the Penang State Health Department’s own website, which lists all six as its hospitals.

Why: It cited the state’s open-data list, which records each one as a government hospital but does not name the Ministry.

  4. Lam Wah Ee Hospital is described as an “independent, charitable and non-profit organisation”, no longer as a “charitable trust”.

Why: That is how its own website describes it. The page we cite never calls it a trust.

  5. A clinic’s chain is shown only with the clinic’s own page that names it.

Why: Clinic pages showed the chain without saying where it came from.

  6. Island Hospital’s and Gleneagles Hospital Penang’s ownership now cite IHH’s own pages about each hospital. Every hospital’s owner now has its own citation.

Why: Both pages cited IHH’s page about its Pantai hospitals, which does not mention them. The owner, IHH Healthcare Berhad, was right; the citation was not.

  7. Penang Adventist Hospital’s owner shown as Adventist Hospital & Clinic Services (M), no longer the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Why: Its own website says it is operated by Adventist Hospital & Clinic Services (M) and is part of the International Adventist Network. It does not say the church owns it, so we show what it does say.

  8. Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital’s owner no longer shown.

Why: The page we cited for its owner does not name one, and its website was down when we checked. We will show the owner again once we can cite a page that states it.

  9. Loh Guan Lye Specialists Centre shown as MSQH accredited until October 2030, no longer “ends within 90 days”. Every MSQH date on the site is now read from the register as at 30 September 2026.

Why: MSQH’s register, as at 30 September 2026, now lists Loh Guan Lye from 31 October 2026 to 30 October 2030; the version we had read, as at 31 March 2026, ended on 31 October 2026. The other 14 Penang hospitals on the register are unchanged.

  10. Penang Adventist Hospital’s ambulance line, +604-222 7799, now shown on its page.

Why: Its own contact page lists “Ambulance: (+604) 222 7799/ 7700”. We had held the number back because the hospital gives no opening hours for its emergency department; we still do not say it runs a 24-hour one.

  11. Loh Guan Lye Specialists Centre’s phone number changed to its enquiry line, +604-238 8187, and its emergency department’s address (19 & 21 Jalan Logan) added.

Why: Its own website lists +604-238 8187/8188 for enquiries and appointments; the number we showed, +604-226 6911, is its 24-hour emergency line, now shown as that. The site says its A&E is at Logan Road.

  12. Hospital Bukit Mertajam’s emergency department number removed.

Why: The number on its emergency department page is the head of department’s office extension, not a line for patients. The hospital’s main line is shown instead.

  13. Private hospital contact details re-checked on each hospital’s own website. Two phone numbers corrected (Loh Guan Lye, Lam Wah Ee), two website addresses replaced (Lam Wah Ee, Mount Miriam), and Mount Miriam’s street address corrected to 23 Jalan Bulan, Fettes Park.

Why: The numbers we held did not appear on the hospitals’ own sites, two website addresses no longer existed, and Mount Miriam’s own site gives a different street.

  14. Penang Chiropractic & Spine Centre removed from the hospital list.

Why: It is a chiropractic centre, not a hospital.

  15. Hospital Bukit Mertajam shown as “MSQH listing ended” instead of accredited.

Why: The MSQH register (as at 31 March 2026) showed its accreditation running until 25 August 2026. We will show it as current again once the register shows a renewal.

  16. Postcodes left off 21 government clinic addresses.

Why: The state’s list and the Ministry of Health’s list give different postcodes for 20 of them, and one postcode belongs to the other side of the strait. We show a postcode only where it can be trusted.

  17. 29 government clinics from the state’s list held back from publication.

Why: The Ministry of Health’s current facility list shows them as a different type of clinic, or not at all. They will be added once checked.

  18. Accreditation limited to what each accrediting body’s own register shows.

Why: A hospital’s own website is not proof of accreditation. JCI and ACHS will be shown once confirmed on those bodies’ registers.
